scr1 Q: I submitted my name and information, why didn't it appear on the list?

A: A percentage of submissions for the Mail List and the Southeast Climbers Registry are received with e-mail addresses which do not work. I post the information as received, then verify the address by writing you back. If I get an error message such as Returned mail: user unknown or such I have little choice but to remove you from the list as your information is not valid.

If you send me your information and it doesn't appear on the list, either the form did not work, I didn't get your information, or I haven't got around to posting it yet. Please e-mail me the information directly at wayneb4737@aol.com.

scr2 Q: How do I add my name and information to the Southeast Climbers Registry?

A: 1) There is a form provided on the Southeast Climbers Registry page which requests your name, e-mail address, town/city, and state, and the comments you want displayed. When you use the submit button, I am sent an e-mail with the information you entered. I then insert this information into the correct state section of the Southeast Climbers Registry and upload the changes .

2) You may also e-mail the required information directly to me at wayneb4737@aol.com

scr3 Q: How do you manage the Southeast Climbers Registry?

A: If I send out a mailing, and your address bounces back as undeliverable (Returned mail: user unknown or such) you will be removed from the list. You are added / removed manually by sending me an e-mail request at wayneb4737@aol.com.  Please notify me if your address changes, or if your name unexpectedly disappears. Be patient if you submit your name to be added to the list - it may take me a week or more to get it posted.

scr4 Q: Why don't you use an automated system so I can manage my own information?

A: Rather than use an automated system, I personally verify the validity of each address by writing you back, and add you to the page "by hand". This lets me screen and verify the entries to be sure they are accurate. It also helps me prevent inappropriate or bogus information for polluting the lists.

scr5 Q: Why does it take so long to get my information posted?

A: So much to do, so little time. It usually takes a day or two for your name to be added to the Southeast Climbers Registry. More important site content is always handled first, mail lists are lower priority. When it is posted, your will receive an e-mail from me with the subject line "You have been added to the Southeast Climbers Registry". There is no need to reply to this e-mail I suggest you check your information by visiting the Southeast Climbers Registry page to confirm it is displayed correctly.

From time to time I go away on climbing trips. During these times, there is no one here to add or update your information. I typically post notice on the home page when I am away so you know why I didn't reply to you or post your information, and when you can expect my return.

scr6 Q: Am I going to get a lot of junk mail from SoutheastClimbing.com?

A: "Mass Mailings" from the website are rare, I don't want to be a pest. You'll only hear from me when I have something important to tell you, or the few times during the year when I test the addresses on the list by sending you a message. I have no need to advertise, this site is not commercial.

Your information will never be shared or sold to vendors, though they can search for names here just as they can do anywhere else on the Internet. Realize that anytime you post your address on the Internet, it is bound to generate a degree of spam.

I do add your name to a mail list program so I can conveniently send out messages to all on Southeast Climbers Registry. This program and list are kept on a separate server so spam robots cannot search for it here.

scr8 Q: Why should I add my name to the Southeast Climbers Registry ?

A: The Southeast Climbers Registry is a network of climbers either living in the Southeast USA or sharing an interest in climbing in the Southeast. It is a resource for persons who may be looking for partners to climb with. It is also a resource of persons who are willing to share their knowledge about climbing areas with others.

A: E-mail me at wayneb4737@aol.com. Send the new information and I will post it ASAP.

scr12 Q: My information disappeared. What happened?

A: The most likely thing which occurred is I sent you a message and it did not reach you (Returned mail: user unknown or such). When this happens, I usually wait a day or two, then try to re-send the message. If it bounces twice, I assume your address is no longer valid and remove it from the list.

scr13 Q: Do you make any changes to the information I send to be posted?

A: Typically, I cut and paste your information so it appears exactly as you sent it. This includes spelling errors, non-capitalization, and extraneous markings. The only changes I make are to capitalize your name and town/city if not already so.

scr14 Q: What does "List last purged (date)" mean?

A: This is the last time I sent out a message to persons on the Southeast Climbers Registry and removed those names / addresses which were no longer valid. Changes since may have made some names / addresses invalid.
