February Updates:

I've just received the official North Carolina Falcon Closures (http://southeastclimbing.com/faq/falcon_closure.htm) for 2004. Of interesting note, the North Carolina Wall at Linville Gorge has been closed until July 1st. to protect an endangered plant. Details and links online.

Also just in are the Tennessee Wall Spring Turkey Hunt Closure Dates (http://southeastclimbing.com/climbing_areas/tennessee/Tennessee_wall.htm#access). Included with the information were praises for the good behavior and stewardship of the climbing community from the Wildlife Officers at the Prentice Cooper WMA. Let's continue to pack out more than we pack in, and be aware of the area regulations - use the Suck Creek Campground instead of the roadside.

Coming up shortly in Kennesaw, Georgia, is Escalade's February Fallout 2/7 Climbing contest with $5000 in prizes (http://southeastclimbing.com/events.htm#fallout). Looking ahead, be ready for some outdoor competition at the Sand Rock Hoe-down on March 13 (http://southeastclimbing.com/events.htm#hoedown).

During January I added a new climbing area to the web site - Snake Den, NC (http://southeastclimbing.com/climbing_areas/north_carolina/snake_den.htm). Additionally, an Archives section (http://southeastclimbing.com/archives/archives_index.htm) was created so you can reference prior communications from the SoutheastClimbing.com web site. Also, the Surveys section (http://southeastclimbing.com/surveys/surveys_index.htm) was created to host responses to the monthly questions.

Finally, help a Southeast physician do research on climbing injuries by replying to his online survey at http://freeonlinesurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?id=48921

Good climbing,

Wayne Busch
